The Archive

Photographs are evidence that something happened.

A photograph is rarely just an image. It is the only remaining proof of a face, a place, a moment that no longer exists anywhere else. When it fades, tears, or is lost to water and silver damage, that proof goes with it.

We treat every restoration as archival work — not a quick filter, but a careful, pixel-level reconstruction guided by what the photograph actually was, not what's fastest to produce. Each image is restored individually, by hand, with attention to grain, tone, and the texture of the original print.

The Process

From damaged original to archival master.

Scan

High-resolution capture

Your original is scanned at archival resolution, preserving every detail of the print before any digital work begins.

Restore

Manual reconstruction

Tears, fading, foxing, and emulsion loss are repaired by hand — tone, grain, and likeness rebuilt to match the original photograph.

Deliver

Archival master + print

You receive a high-resolution master file suited for printing or long-term digital archiving, plus your original returned safely.

From the Archive

A scan recovered from decades of dust and a sideways frame.

This slide came to us rotated, underexposed, and speckled with decades of embedded dust and debris. Restoration meant correcting orientation, rebuilding exposure and color balance, and removing damage point by point — without inventing detail that wasn't there.

Damage

Tears, creases, water stains, mold, foxing, fading, scratches, dust, and silver mirroring on prints, negatives, and slides.

Sources

Family prints, glass plate negatives, slides, damaged albums, and institutional or museum archival collections.

Outcomes

Archival digital masters, fine-art prints, and reproductions faithful to the original — never over-sharpened or artificial.
